Less people migrate in Q2 2018

The Ports Authority published this week the net passenger movement by land and sea for the second trimester of 2018. Passenger movement in the Luis Muñoz Marín airport represents 91.6% of all passenger traffic in P.R. therefore, representing a large enough sample for the island.


From April to June 2018 (2018 Q2) the net passenger movement totaled -15,187. When we compared to the same months in 2017 (April to June 2017) we found that less people migrated in 2018. For the same months of 2017, the second trimester, 43,000 people moved out of the island.


2017 Q2: -43,078 net passenger movement
2018 Q2: -15,187 net passenger movement


January-June 2017: -103,715 net passenger movement

January-June 2018: 63,581 net passenger movement
